Dry Needling

At ACTive Family Physical Therapy, we offer dry needling in Jacksonville and Ponte Vedra to help active adults and athletes reduce pain, release tight muscles, and move better—faster. Dry needling uses a thin, solid needle (with no medication) to target trigger points and muscular tension that may be limiting your performance or causing discomfort.

Whether you're dealing with nagging shoulder pain, tight hips, or tension that stretching just won’t fix, dry needling can help reset your muscles, improve blood flow, and speed up recovery.

Our licensed physical therapists use dry needling as part of a personalized, one-on-one treatment plan—so you can get back to training, parenting, or your favorite gym routine without pain holding you back.

Cupping

At ACTive Family Physical Therapy, we offer cupping therapy in Jacksonville and Ponte Vedra to help reduce muscle tension, improve circulation, and promote faster recovery for active adults and athletes.

Cupping is a hands-on technique that uses suction to gently lift the skin and underlying tissues. This helps increase blood flow, loosen up tight muscles, and reduce inflammation. You might recognize the circular marks left behind—those are signs of improved circulation and healing.

We often combine cupping with other manual therapy techniques and corrective exercises as part of your one-on-one treatment plan. It’s especially effective for back tightness, shoulder pain, or recovery after tough workouts.

If you’re feeling stiff, sore, or just not moving like you want to, cupping may be a game-changer in getting you back to your favorite activities.

Myofascial Release

At ACTive Family Physical Therapy, we provide myofascial release in Jacksonville and Ponte Vedra to help reduce pain, improve mobility, and restore normal movement for active adults, athletes, and kids alike.

Myofascial release is a hands-on manual therapy technique that targets the fascia—connective tissue surrounding your muscles and joints. When this tissue gets tight or restricted from injury, stress, or poor movement patterns, it can cause pain, limit range of motion, and throw off how your body moves.

Our physical therapists use myofascial release to gently stretch and mobilize these tight areas, helping restore normal tissue mobility and reduce tension. We often combine it with corrective exercises and movement training as part of a customized one-on-one plan to help you move better and feel better—long term.

If you’re feeling stiff, restricted, or like something’s “off” with your movement, myofascial release might be the missing link in your recovery.

IASTM

(Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization)

At ACTive Family Physical Therapy, we offer IASTM in Jacksonville and Ponte Vedra to help break up scar tissue, reduce muscle tension, and improve movement for active adults, youth athletes, and anyone recovering from injury.

IASTM uses specially designed tools to apply controlled pressure to soft tissues—breaking up restrictions, improving blood flow, and speeding up healing. It’s especially effective for chronic tightness, post-surgical rehab, or stubborn areas that just don’t seem to release with stretching or massage alone.

We use IASTM as part of our one-on-one sessions alongside manual therapy and corrective exercises to help you move with less pain and more freedom. Whether you’re bouncing back from an injury or trying to stay ahead of one, IASTM can be a valuable part of your treatment plan.

If you’ve got lingering tightness, tendon pain, or stiffness that’s limiting your performance, this technique may be exactly what your body needs to reset and recover.

Rehab-to-Performance Training...

At ACTive Family Physical Therapy, we don’t just focus on getting you out of pain—we help you come back stronger. Our Rehab to Performance Training bridges the gap between injury rehab and high-level training, so you’re not just cleared… you’re confident.

Whether you’re recovering from an injury or trying to prevent the next one, we combine hands-on therapy with strength and movement-based programming tailored to your goals. It’s one-on-one, personalized, and built to take you from the treatment table back to the barbell, the field, or wherever you love to move.

Injury Screens

Not sure what’s going on—or if it’s serious enough for PT? Our Injury Screens are the perfect first step.

In these one-on-one session, we’ll take a look at how you're moving, ask about your symptoms, and help you figure out what’s causing the issue. From there, we’ll give you clear guidance on what to do next—whether that’s starting therapy, modifying your workouts, or simply keeping an eye on things.

This is a no-pressure, high-value way to get expert eyes on your pain or limitation before it turns into a bigger problem.

Post-Op Recovery

Surgery is just the first step—how you recover matters most. At ACTive Family Physical Therapy, we specialize in helping you rebuild strength, mobility, and confidence after orthopedic procedures.

Whether you’ve had an ACL repair, rotator cuff surgery, spinal fusion, or something else, our one-on-one post-op recovery programs are designed to meet you where you are and guide you back to where you want to be. We combine hands-on therapy, progressive strength training, and real-world movement to help you recover fully—and get back to the activities you love.

From early rehab to return to sport, we’re with you every step of the way.

Manipulations

At ACTive Family Physical Therapy, we offer joint manipulations in Jacksonville and Ponte Vedra to help reduce pain, restore mobility, and improve the way your body moves—fast.

Manipulation is a hands-on technique that uses a quick, gentle thrust to improve motion in a stiff or restricted joint. It’s commonly used for the neck, back, and spine, but can also help with shoulders, hips, and other areas that aren’t moving well. You might hear a “pop,” but more importantly, you'll feel a difference.

We combine manipulations with movement-based rehab and strength work to make sure your results last—so you don’t just feel better, you move better too.

If you’re dealing with tightness, limited range of motion, or chronic pain that isn’t responding to stretching or massage, manipulation may be the reset your body needs.

How the services fit into our plan

We follow a 3-Step Proces to KEEP you out of pain...

Put out the Fire

Experience symptom relief with a combination of our manual therapy and corrective exercises. From massage and dry needling to spinal manipulation, myofascial decompression, and cupping our therapist ensure your aches and pains are eliminated for good.

Treat the Cause

Symptom relief can make all the difference in the moment, but our goal is for the pain to stay away. If a proper diagnosis with a plan is not put into place, that pain could turn into that "recurring tweak".

Build Resilience

Our goal is not getting you back to baseline, but to create a resilient human. Our therapists have the specific training to create a customized program that will make your body ready for any situation!

I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional care provided by Mick. Mick's expertise, dedication, and genuine concern for his patients have made a remarkable difference in the lives of my family.
Mick has helped me in treating various sports injuries for both my daughter, who is an avid basketball player, and me as a runner. His comprehensive approach and personalized treatment plans have facilitated our recoveries and enabled us to return to our respective sports with confidence....

Runner and Functional Fitness Athlete

I was considering surgery, but now I don't need it!
Mick helped me overcome chronic knee pain and swelling that was interferring with my daily activities. I never felt pressured or judged if I was unable to complete my assigned exercises between appointments. He also helped me understand why I was doing each exercise so I have the knowledge to help myself in the future if I have another injury.
As a healthcare provider, I appreciated Mick's willingness to be my physical therapist and also a trusted consultant. As a
provider who does CrossFit, Mick understands the movements and how to modify them appropriately to reach my goals.
10/10 would recommend, especially if you are a CrossFit athlete!

Allison Fullenkamp

Crossfit Athlete and Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine

Mick has been more than a physical therapist at CF904. He has been a team mate, and someone who has involved himself with the community. He is constantly asking how certain members are doing after he has treated them. He is always communicating what to look out for for those members he has treated, and how to help them during class. As a business partner, he has been fantastic. As a therapist, he rises above. He isn’t a “treat you forever” therapist, but one who wants to get you fixed, healed, and on your way to continue accomplishing your goals. He is very conscious of what his clients take best to as far as treatment plans and is very sensitive....
